Learning Challenge: Deskercise Follow-Up

Workout At Home by the Washington Post The deskercises I've been using are "Punching", "Side Lunges", and "Walking".  Usually, when I get drowsy while doing school work, I will take a quick nap.  These deskercises are a great alternative to taking those quick naps whenever it's not feasible to take a nap.

Growth Mindset Cats

Image
I like this cat  because I think it's very true.  It's true about the picture too.  Some older people don't understand how to use a phone or computer because they just haven't tried to mess around and be curious about it.  I usually find that the more curious a person is, the easier they understand any material.  I also think that these cats represent a very important idea to always hold.  It's always important to not have different views but to be able to look at it in different views.  That way, you don't necessarily lose your ideology, but you understand other's ideology and adapt your own ideology based on what you truly believe.  We never fully know ourselves.  We can only experience events that draw ourselves out.

Tech Tip: Chrome Art

The extension is pretty cool, but I wouldn't categorize it as absolutely necessary.  It can be useful if you need something to periodically inspire you, but personally, I don't think it's for me.  I don't really care about images too much, but I know that some people do, so I think that this would be a good extension for those people.  I'm not into museums if it's mainly artwork unless it's an artwork that details an interesting historical event.  I'd prefer a science museum as compared to an artwork museum though.

Workout At Home by the Washington Post I browsed through the workouts by the Washington Post.  My favorite ones are "Punching", "Side Lunges", and "Walking".  I will post a follow-up post next week on my continued experience with these desk exercises. You don't need a treadmill to be healthy at your desk

Growth Mindset: Motto

Image
Always as a child, I've been conditioned to always make straight A's because it will "give me a good job".  Growing up, I didn't pay too much attention to making good grades, but now, I see that my parents just wanted the best for my future.  I read stories of people in poverty who struggle each and every day wondering how they're going to pay off the house or even feed their own family, and that really sucks and is unfortunate.  I definitely never want to have to put my family in that situation.  So while the meme is talking about money, it really has a deeper meaning.  Money isn't always greeding to have.  As long as you don't base your life around money, money is an amazing tool to have.  In my case, I view money to take care of my family and make sure that my family is secure.  In order to do that, I have to do well in school, and so that is a big inspiration for me to do well.

Tech Tip: Canvas Calendar

For this week on my Tech Tip, I took a look at my Canvas Calendar.  Usually, I will go to my Canvas Calendar on the Canvas Website in order to see what assignments I have for the week.  However, with just using the Canvas Calendar, I cannot see my personal events, and it just makes it a hassle to see how my schedule is like overall.  A good tip is to use the iCal link by clicking on "Calendar Feed" on the right of your Canvas Calendar, and you can import your Canvas Calendar into another Calendar such as Google Calendar or Outlook Calendar.  A drawback for this is that it does not import events in Canvas that you, yourself, created, so you have to do that manually in your own calendar.  This brings me to my second tip for the Canvas Calendar, which is "creating your own events".  A couple of my professors do not put their assignments on the Canvas Calendar, because their assignments are either in-paper or on a 3rd party website, and this has cost me some 0's, wh

Tech Tip: Canvas Mobile App

Ever since I started to use Canvas, I have had the Canvas App downloaded into my phone.  In my own experience, it is definitely worth it to have it downloaded to your phone.  Although expectedly, the app is more limited than the full version, there's still a lot to use with it.  For example, in the app, there is not a calendar with the assignments.  The assignments are with its respective classes.  A good feature that I've used multiple times is that you can upload a document straight from the Canvas app to the WEPA printer app to a WEPA printer on campus without it being difficult.  Overall, the Canvas App has its uses but it has a limited functionality.

Week 8 Comments and Feedback

Image
I really think that the feedback that I receive from other students is really beneficial.  The feedback lets me see things that I did not see previously.  Usually, the feedback for my formatting is the most helpful to me, because, personally, I don't pay attention to my formatting as much as I should. The feedback I give is pretty minimal.  I feel like I mostly give out suggestions on what I'd do, but I know that each person's writing is their own, and they should be the one deciding on what it is.  I mostly base my feedback on things that are a little blurry or confusing.  So that in turn, makes me try to not have any holes in my own writing. I really like the blog commenting.  It's cool to connect with other students since because this is an online class, it can feel like it's just personal homework without other students.  I'm pretty content with my blog introduction and comment wall.  I think that it gets done what needs to get done. I don't think

Week 8 Reading and Writing

Image
I'm pretty content overall with my blog and portfolio website.  I don't like my things to be too extravagant, but I like to keep it at a minimal.  So there's not much to change about them.  The reading notes are really helpful.  It lets me keep the stories fresh in my mind.  I can create a rendition based on a story, and I will have the important details of the story within my notes.  It's a good thing to keep notes too, because, without notes, I would end up going back the original story, and as a result, my writing will be more heavily based on the story, which won't let me be too creative with it.  Overall, I think it's a good system to read, make notes, then write. I'm learning more about creative writing

Growth Mindset

Build Up My Purpose I really love doing acronyms.  They're just fun to think up, and creating one hurts my head.  My Acronym is BUMP, Build up my purpose.  We have so many bumps in our lives, we end up getting upset or angry at why we keep having bumps.  However, we forget that bumps make us stronger and they build our purposes in life.  Without bumps, life is too easy, and we don't have anything to work towards.

Learning Challenge: Time Challenge

Image
At the beginning of the course, I planned to do most of my work, around 4 hours, on Tuesdays, and the rest of the work on Saturdays.  The reason for this is that I don't have any classes to go to on Tuesdays, and it is a good break day.  However, because I view it as a break day, I tend to usually have fun on Tuesdays, and I end up not doing the work on Tuesdays.  I think it would be better to allocate only a couple hours to Tuesday and the remaining hours to Sunday. Day Calendar

Tech Tip: Wordcounter

I really think that this tool is really useful.  I'm used to using the wordcounter website, but that gets a little tedious.  It's just a lot easier to have an extension to word count instantly.  It really depends on how much I write.  If I can get into the groove of writing something, then I'll usually write a lot, and then I will end up writing the maximum word count.  But if I can't get into the groove, I'll usually end up writing the minimum.  It all really depends on my mood
