Famous Last Words: Staying up late

Image
I'm currently at that period where everything is starting to become due, so I have to resort to staying up extremely late, usually until around 5 or 6 in the morning.  I had a church event on Saturday that I had to prepare for, and some other extracurricular things I had to do.  Although these did take a chunk out of my time from of my schedule, I can't blame it on these events.  I am definitely a bit behind in most of my classes.  It's not that I can't keep up, but it's that I do large bursts of studying instead of a steady flow.  It's like I'm sprinting for half the time rather than running a marathon for the entire time.  My current plan for this week is to get caught up in most of my classes since I have things that are due this week.  Even though I have a lot to do, I'm not too worried about it.  I've gone through much much worse; perks of being a procrastinator.  There aren't too many connections between this class and my other classes.  Fo

Growth Mindset: Acronym

Work At It Timely Wait.  I think that waiting is very important in growth.  So often, I feel like I rush into things and it leads me to getting burned  out.  I think for growth, it's important to space your time out and sometimes just wait.

Typing Test Tech Tip

One of the most important skills, if not the most important, of handling technology is typing.  It's always a good idea to brush up on typing skills because it can transfer to many aspects of your life such as your personal life and professional life.  My favorite typing website is TypeRacer  because it lets me be competitive with my typing.

Get An Important Nerve Sometimes I feel like I get very complacent about a lot of things that I do.  So my acronym is "gain", which could also be taken as to gain something and grow.  I think sometimes I don't have a strong enough nerve to keep going hard at something, so this is my acronym. Humans have nerves that keep us going

Tech Tip: Announcements email

Image
While I do usually check Canvas at least once every day (even multiple times every day), I sometimes forget.  I especially forget when there's a school break or it's Friday and the weekend is coming up.  However, subscribing to receive announcements through email is really nice, because I use my email for non-school related stuff too, so I find myself checking my email more often than checking Canvas.  I check my email at least once a day

Go Rip Open Windows Sometimes in order to grow, you have to seek out opportunities.  You have to force the window open.  This resonates with me because I'm a pretty passive person, so I don't really look for opportunities too often.  But I need to remember to look for opportunities to grow.

Learning Challenge: Reviewing my Schedule

Image
I've reviewed my schedule that I decided upon on week 1.  Looking at it, I can see that it is still the most optimal schedule to do.  However, I'm not a perfect person, and I have deviated from my schedule due to procrastination.  I'm going to keep my schedule as is, but I will strive to follow it more strictly. I love using my canvas calendar to keep on task

Tech Tip: Google Timer

Image
I've actually been using the google timer (when you Google search for "timer") many times recently.  It's actually always been for one reason only. Sadly, it's because I need a nap.  Sometimes I'll have homework or studying that needs to be done before class, and it'll be like 2am.  I just need a quick doze for 20 mins to refresh my brain.  I used to do this on my phone, but I'm such a heavy sleeper, and I subconsciously learned how to turn my phone alarm off while I'm still in my sleep, causing me to oversleep.  But the Google Timer is nice because I can make it loud enough to wake me up completely and get my work done. A Troubling Side Effect of Praise:  I can actually relate to this a lot.  It reminds me of the phenomenon called the "Imposter Syndrome".  It basically describes the notion that our success and achievements were all due to sheer luck.  It was just a fluke that we did well.  This belief makes us feel like we're an imposter of what people think we are.  So this leads us to have the fear of being "discovered" as a fluke or imposter.  Personally, I did pretty well in High School.  I graduated top 2 in my class of over 1200 students.  However, in college, I haven't been doing too hot.  So I experience the "Imposter Syndrome" to a small degree.  I don't want to do so poorly that all my previous accomplishments are made void.  I have, in the past, thought about cheating so that I don't get exposed.  So I can see how praise would make people not want to be exposed.  However, I still feel like praise is necessary to build students up and to give the

Heroes of Greek Myth: Source I've only heard a handful of stories about Mythical Heroes.  Even in the ones that I am a little familiar with, I still don't know too much specifically.  I was interested in Greek Heroes when I was younger.  I've since moved onto more important things, in my own opinion.  However, it wouldn't be bad to revisit my old interests.  I would probably write about stories of major heroic characters in Greek Mythology, such as Heracles, Odysseus, and Jason.  I would probably write it as a narrative towards a younger child, just like how I was interested in it in the past as a child. Bible Stories: Source I come from a Christian background.  I'm familiar with most Bible stories, but I'm not proud to say that I don't know many of them.  I would probably write about more obscure stories that I, and perhaps others, aren't very familiar with.  I would try to write it so that it doesn't seem Biblical in nature.  It would mesh well

Infancy: The Annunciation source: King James Bible (1611): Luke 1. The angel Gabriel visited the Virgin Mary to tell her that she would be pregnant with a Son of God and to name him Jesus.  He proved that it would be true by telling her that her barren cousin Elisabeth in old age would become pregnant too.  So Mary went to visit her and found that it was true. Infancy: The Nativity source:  King James Bible  (1611): Luke 2. Mary and Joseph gave birth to Jesus and laid him in a manger.  An angel of God told some shepherds to go to the manger and see the Christ.  The shepherds came and praised the baby, Jesus. Infancy: The Young Jesus source:  King James Bible  (1611): Luke 2. A man Simeon was very just and he got told by the Holy Ghost to see Jesus before his death.  Mary and Joseph took Jesus to the temple to offer a sacrifice.  Jesus and Simeon met, and Simeon praised Jesus.  When Jesus was twelve, he stayed at the temple without his parents knowing.  They went home but c
