Infancy: The Annunciation

The angel Gabriel visited the Virgin Mary to tell her that she would be pregnant with a Son of God and to name him Jesus.  He proved that it would be true by telling her that her barren cousin Elisabeth in old age would become pregnant too.  So Mary went to visit her and found that it was true.

Mary and Joseph gave birth to Jesus and laid him in a manger.  An angel of God told some shepherds to go to the manger and see the Christ.  The shepherds came and praised the baby, Jesus.

A man Simeon was very just and he got told by the Holy Ghost to see Jesus before his death.  Mary and Joseph took Jesus to the temple to offer a sacrifice.  Jesus and Simeon met, and Simeon praised Jesus.  When Jesus was twelve, he stayed at the temple without his parents knowing.  They went home but couldn't find him so they went back.  They found Jesus at the temple asking questions and listening to the doctors.

Joseph was afraid to marry Mary because she was pregnant and he thought she was a virgin.  But the angel of God came to him in a dream and told him not to fear and to call the baby Jesus (Emmanuel).  So Jesus was born and three wise men from the east searched for him by looking at the stars.  Herod heard news of this and asked the wise men for Jesus.  The wise men went to Jesus and offered gold, frankincense, and myrrh.  Then God warned the wise men not to go back to Herod.  God warned Joseph to go to Egypt in fear of Herod.  Then when Herod died, God told him to go to Nazareth.

Joseph went to work and Mary heard a voice.  The angel told her not to fear and that she has found favor in God.  He told her that she would give birth to Jesus.  She went to go see Elizabeth and Elizabeth was surprised that the mother of Jesus visited her.

Joseph returned from work and found Mary well pregnant.  He questioned who and how this had happened.  Mary tells him that she's innocent and pregnant with the child of God.  Joseph went away from her and wondered what to do with this situation.  The angel came to Joseph in a dream and told him not to fear.  Mary and Joseph had a trial with a priest but they tell him that it is the child of God.  The priests let them leave.

Joseph, Simon, and Mary went to Bethlehem by donkey.  Joseph took Mary to a cave.  People outside were not eating nor drinking.  He found a midwife to take to the cave.  The midwife was excited and found Salome.  Salome paid praises to Jesus.  Salome was allowed to hold Jesus.  God told Salome not to tell anyone about Jesus and Jesus comes to Jerusalem.

Mary and Joseph went to Bethlehem because they would be taxed in their own country.  They went into a cave.  Joseph searched for a midwife.  When they both went back into the cave, it was extremely bright.  The midwife praised Jesus and was allowed to touch him.  Shepherds came to praise Jesus and the cave looked like a temple.  The midwife thanked God for being able to experience the birth of the Savior.

The midwife took the foreskin of Jesus and placed in a box.  Mary and Joseph brought Jesus to Jerusalem and they made offerings.  Simeon saw Jesus shining and praised him.  Wise men brought gold frankincense, and myrrh to Jesus.

Herod asked the wise men where Jesus would be born.  They told him Bethlehem.  God came to Joseph in his sleep and told him to go to Egypt.  There was a big idol in the city, but when the Son of God came, it trembled.  The demon possessed child of the priest found Jesus' clothes and put it on his head.  The demons came out from him.  The little boy was cured and him and his father, the priest, praised Jesus.

Joseph and Mary feared that news of the idol breaking would go to Herod and he would find them.  A possessed woman found Mary and her demon left her.  In the morning, Mary and Joseph were going to leave, but there was a wedding, and Satan made the bride dumb and unable to speak.  Mary came in with Jesus and the bride kissed Jesus.  She was no longer dumb and began to praise God.
